Mommy and Me session
Summit Metro Parks, the second oldest park district in Ohio, is full of beautiful spots to photograph, but one is a North Canton, Ohio, family photographer’s dream: F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm. Just half an hour south of Cleveland, it feels as though you’ve stepped into another world, and each time I bring clients here, I find new and beautiful places to photograph.
What makes this park so perfect for family sessions is that so many distinctive locations, from a rock and herb garden to a suspension bridge to multiple ponds to grassy fields, are just a short walk apart, so little children don’t have far to hike.
And the Nature Realm came through for me again, giving me a beautiful location to photograph a “mommy and me” session with Ashley and Oliver. I had the privilege of photographing these two, along with Ashley’s husband, last year, and I will be photographing the whole family again in the fall. I love building relationships with my clients, especially the little ones, and watching them grow year after year.
Oliver, who I was able to bond with over a mutual love of Finding Dory, was such a talkative little explorer. I may or may not have had to bribe him with candy as we neared the end of the session, but he was such a champion, smiling for the camera and posing perfectly.
The golden light coming through the trees gave an ethereal quality to the shoot that was such a joy to capture, and could any photographer ask for more than a field full of dandelions to photograph a precious little boy?
As a mom of a little boy myself, I deeply feel how special it is to capture these moments of youth while they last so that they can be treasured long after he grows up.
