Breakfast at Tiffany’s Styled Shoot
Styled shoots can be such fun treats for photographers to put together, and this North Canton, OH, senior photographer is no different. Particularly, when that styled shoot pays homage to one of my all-time favorite actresses.
Ninety-three years ago, Audrey Kathleen Ruston was born in Belgium. She grew up in the Netherlands during the Nazi occupation of WWII. Sixty-four years ago, she burst onto the world stage as Audrey Hepburn, landing her first starring role as Princess Ann in Roman Holiday. Twenty-nine years ago, she became a UNICEF ambassador after a star-studded Hollywood career to give back to those growing up hungry the way she did. Twenty-four years ago, the world lost an actress and beautiful soul when she passed away at 63-years-old. Two months ago, I was gushing over Audrey Hepburn and her flawless fashion sense with my friend, Abby.
We just couldn’t get enough of her eternal self-confidence and how she embraced her body as it was. Rather than attempting to hide her ever-small figure, resulting from a childhood of malnourishment, she instead made the daring decision to dress in ways that highlighted it. It was this boldness that made her a fashion icon.
Then it hit us: I’m a photographer, and Abby is a makeup artist, so why not put together a styled shoot in tribute to Audrey Hepburn? Grab your coffee, and your croissant, because it was Breakfast-at-Tiffany’s-themed-shoot-o’clock!
In this late-April Downtown Canton, OH, shoot, I wanted to capture the glamour and elegance of old Hollywood, combined with a modern urban aesthetic. Abby, who did her own makeup and hair, might I add, captured that beautifully, in a simple black tank and a pink tulle skirt from Francesca’s. And what a find that pearl necklace was at Charming Charlie!
Capturing the beauty, both inside and out, of Audrey Hepburn shining through my friend, Abby, was such a blast. Check out some of my favorite images from this shoot below.
