As a North Canton, Ohio, family photographer, I spend most of my time photographing, yep, you guessed it, families. But serving families as a photographer doesn’t always mean getting the whole crew together for a photo shoot. Sometimes it means bonding with a fellow mom-preneur and creative in downtown Canton and sharing our talents with each other.
Amanda Mason and I went to school together and reconnected when I was on the hunt for a new logo. We quickly discovered that we were both work-from-home moms raising little boys close in age. She is an amazing graphic designer who has done work for such clients as True Bliss Travel, Women in the Law (WITL) and Dream Do Love, a hand-lettering artist. After her beautiful work in designing my current logo, I jumped at the opportunity to return the favor by taking her business headshots.
Headshots are a vital piece of any business, and are as much a part of a brand as a logo, website or business card. More often than not, a headshot is a potential client’s first impression of you. Are you friendly and warm? Are you professional and polished? Are you intense? Are you sweet? Are you whimsical?
How you come across to people in one simple photo can help you to connect with your ideal client, showcase your business and highlight your personality. People are generally more inclined to trust you when they see the face behind the business title.
And it isn’t just about the content of the image but about the quality of the image, as well. Would you be rushing to make a large purchase from someone who has an out-of-focus bathroom seflie as their headshot? I know I wouldn’t. People who use professional headshots stand out from the crowd, which can help to land those big sales. Getting professional headshots taken, and updated regularly, is definitely an investment worth making.
