I truly believe that one of the most precious parts of being a North Canton Ohio full service photographer is that I am able to capture the fleeting moments of life for families. A 2-year-old child about to outgrow his next pair of shoes. A young couple in love with their first child. A great-grandparent who may not be present for family photos much longer. But sometimes you just miss one of those moments and photograph a family as they only begin to heal. This was my experience with the Wendy Rosen family, and extended family, in Petros Park.
When Wendy and I scheduled this full-service family photography session, she knew her brother-in-law would be struggling, but she still hoped to include him. He had cancer, you see, but I assured her that this was more than fine. Unfortunately, he passed away a week before our family session, and it was heartbreaking.
But I could feel in the way this family posed together and loved on each other so naturally, both in front of the lens and when the camera wasn’t clicking, that they were a family that truly connects and had come together during a difficult time. This family, from the youngest member to the oldest, had mile-wide smiles, even the wife and children of the family member so recently lost. And I know that he was looking down on his beautiful family smiling along with them.
Petros Park, with its expansive grassy fields, surrounded the family in a warm glow, displaying perfectly why this is my go-to spot for those wide, open field shots.
This is definitely one of my favorite big family portrait sessions I’ve ever had the chance to do. The little ones were so well behaved and cooperative, and they were all naturals in front of the lens. They are such a lovely family, and I hope to have the opportunity to photograph them again soon! Take a look at a few of my favorites from this family portrait session below.
