Years ago, I launched my business as a North Canton, Ohio, family photographer, and as every solopreneur knows, the toughest part of embarking on a brand-new business venture is finding those first clients who will take a chance on you. The Shank family was one of those amazing first clients who allowed me to learn and grow while I worked with them, photographing their not-yet-one-year-old son, Brody. That cowboy-themed shoot holds a special place in my heart, and I feel so blessed to work with them time and time again.
Brody, now a very grown up five-year-old, and his four-year-old sister, Blakely, were so much fun to photograph in my favorite location, F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm. Brody is such an outgoing little adventurer who has no problem loving on his sister with what sometimes ends up being more tackles than hugs. Little Blakely, while a little shy at first in front of the camera, warmed up after a Frozen sing-along, which, let’s be honest, is probably the quickest way to become best friends with any little girl. Photographing them as they danced through a sun-kissed field together was a special moment that I’m sure their parents will treasure as they grow older, as were their adorable portraits in front of a backdrop of blooming Black-Eyed Susans.
Little Brody was the life of the party, posing his way through the family portraits, and Blakely is as beautiful as her mom! I’m glad I got to sneak in a few portraits of mom and dad, which is something that often gets forgotten during family sessions, especially with so many precious photos to take of the children.
I am thrilled that I get to photograph the Shank family through the years, documenting the special moments in time as the children grow. Check out some of my favorites from their latest family portrait session at the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm below!
